A moderate ability trek that follows a sacred pilgrimage
trail around the holy mountain of Kinner Kailash. It offers
a unique chance to see the tribal culture of Kinnaur region
and would appeal to trekkers with some high altitude
experience.
Day 01: Shimla - Sarahan (2165m/7100ft)
Leaving Shimla after breakfast by jeep today’s drive takes
us north along the Sutlej valley to Sarahan – set high above
the valley Sarahan is also home to the beautiful Bhimakali
temple which attracts visitors from all over the region.
Evening visit to the temple. Overnight in hotel.
Day 02: Sarahan - Kafnu (2400m/7874ft)
After breakfast we set off on a short hike in the hills
behind the hills of Sarahan to acclimatize before leaving
after lunch to Kafnu – the starting point for the Bhaba pass
trek. Overnight in tent.

Day 03: Kafnu - Mulling (3280m/10758 ft)
Our trek will take us the 15 kms (5-6 hours) to our meadow
campsite at Mulling. The trail alongside the Wanger river is
fairly wide and well marked passing through alpine meadows
and forests of pine and birch. Overnight in tent.
Day 04: Mulling - Kara (3560m/11676 ft)
After breakfast we set off by crossing the river by a
natural boulder bridge - the trail today is approximately 6
kms and climbs gradually until we reach the meadow at Kara.
Along the way we may lucky enough to encounter nomadic Gaddi
shepherds in their traditional dress tending their flocks.
Kara is another excellent campsite with many species of
alpine flowers and great views of a range of Himalayan peaks
on the Kinnaur/Spiti border. Overnight in tent.
Day 05: Kara - Phustirang (4200m/13776 ft)
Our trek today will take us to the foot of the Bhaba pass –
a walk of 6kms. It’s a steep path that follows the left bank
of the river till we reach or campground for the night at
Phustrirang. From here stunning views of Kinnauri landscape
can be seen including Hansbeshan Peak (5840 m/19156 ft)
which dominates the skyline. Overnight in tent.
Day 06: Phustirang
Rest day for acclimatization.

Day 07: Phustirang - Bhaba Pass (4865m/15958 ft) -
Chhochhden (4000 m/13120 ft)
Walk is 13km and should take 6 – 7 hours - the day starts
with the climb up to the Bhaba Pass also known as Tari
Khango – there are many spectacular views along the way and
in the distance we should be able to spot the Pin Parvati
Pass another popular trekking route. Descending down towards
Bara Bulder there is a marked change in the landscape from
the alpine meadows of the last few days to the brown desert
like slopes of the Pin Valley. Our riverside campground for
the night is at Chhochhden. Overnight in tent.
Day 08: Chhochhden - Mudh (3750m/12300 ft)
After breakfast we continue to walk down the left bank of
the river to Mudh – a distance of around 12km. Here the
valley is broad and the terrain very rocky with very little
vegetation. Mudh is an enchanting little hamlet with a small
gompa perched on a hill, which is where our campsite for the
night is to be found. Overnight in tent.
Day 09: Mudh - Sagnam (3680m/12070 ft)
Trek to Sagnam village is around 12 km’s and should take us
5- 7 hours. The trail winds its way through vast meadows –
the grazing grounds for the local shepherds before arriving
at Sagnam a large village situated at the confluence of Pin
and Khamengar rivers. Overnight in tent/guesthouse.

Day 10: Sagnam - Gungri - Kaza (3600m/11808 ft)
After breakfast a short 3km trek takes us to Gungri on the
river Khamengar and home to one of the five important gompas
located in Spiti valley. After visiting the gompa it’s a
short drive to Kaza the regions main town and market.
Overnight in hotel.
Day 11: Kaza - Manali (2050m/6725 ft)
It takes us the 209 km’s to Manali by jeep – a pretty
spectacular drive over the Kunzum (4590 m/ 15055 ft) and
Rohtang Passes (3980 m/13055 ft). Arriving early evening we
check into our hotel for the final night of the tour.
Transport can be arranged from Delhi to Shimla at the start
of the trek (Train-Bus-Flight) and from Manali back to Delhi
at the finish (Bus-Flight) - please let us know if this is a
